George GLOVER 11, Master's son, b Astley Green Lanc
Jane Ann GLOVER 9, Master;s daughter, b Astley Green Lanc

Something is not right in the relationships you've stated - Robert & Lavinia's son George is 11 in 1881 (so would be about 21 in 1891, 31 in 1901) - yet it certainly looks like your Grandfather Edward's father George was 50 in 1901.... ??? Making your Edward's father more likely a brother of Robert, not a son.....?

Cheers

Ambley,
thank you for your input,
i have printed out your replys and i am going to hang on to them.

It gets so complecated!
i know granddad was born Jan 1897, i always thought he was born 1900--01,untill i got the marriage cert of 1924 and he was 27,so i worked it out to 1897. i live in the Wirral area and i have looked and looked for him in this area to no avail,so i started to look further afield, i have found what looks to be him as it was the only Edward Glover in that Q of 1897.

As for 1901, i think the ages are all wrong, it makes me wonder if children were'nt allowed to live on barges,or if they didn't go to school the parents did'nt want to be found out!!

There is no one left now to ask, my Auntie [Edward's daughter]
can't remember her grandmother's name, but she said the grandfather was "George" and his name is on the wedding cert.
Thanks for your help.
Chris.

Thanks alli,
I have sent for Granddads birth cert, that should be here next week, i'm almost sure i have the right family.
No use asking my Auntie [Edwards daughter] don't think she is interested, she doesn't know her grandmothers name.
I always remember my Nan saying "Glover" is an old family of New Ferry, which is what made me think he was born New Ferry, but now i have found he wasn't! she must of meant from the time she married granddad.
Thanks for your help.
Chris.

Hi cg

My great grandfather was Edward Glover (Tyldsley) who was married to Mary from Acton Bridge. It would seem we have the same issue regarding his children's ages.
