Dear Irret,

Thank you for your help. My posting in 'Kent' was just on the off chance that someone knew of his death and indeed if he had any family. My main search is centred on Birmingham between 1920 and 1930 and I have put a note on the Warwickshire notice board. My principle needs are to find details of JHN's older sister Margaret, believed to have been born in 1921 and a marriage (if any) of her parents, Howard Naden and Margaret Ennis.

You were able to find John's birth. Would it be possible to see if you could find Margaret's birth also. I would be most grateful if you could.

Have searched for the marriage of Howard every quarter from 1916-1921 no joy ... I could have missed it -you can search for free go to http://search.ancestry.co.uk and select Complete BMD Index ranges & Images 1837-1983 click on marriages and enter Howard and year and start searching. Do you know if Margaret was the eldest child?

Dear Irret,

Many thanks for finding Margaret's reference. I think she must have been the eldest as Gladys was born 1922 and John 1930. I am assuming there were no other children as the May 1945 electoral role shows the two girls who would by then be 25 and 23 and John would still be too young to vote. I appreciate that there could be others born after 1922 who had left home by 1945. Howard was already married to a lady in Liverpool when he and Margaret set up home and the youngerst by that marriage was born in 1920. I think it is safe to say that Margaret was the eldest.

The non-appearance of a marriage suggests that Howard did not commit bigamy. I am already the descendant of an illegitimate tailor. To be as well the descendant of a bigamist also would be too much to bear!!!

Thank again for your help.

Marriage 1900 Dec quarter
Howard Naden / Emma Green or Mary Alice Hughes Toxteth Park 8b 359
I would think he is too old to be your Howard but he is the only Howard / Naden combo I could find. ???
Where/ how are you taking it from here?

Dear Irret,

Thanks for pegging away for me on this case. I knew of the marriage of Howard Naden and Mary Alice Hughes in 1880 as they are my ancestors and I know quite a bit about their life in Liverpool. Howard left home and went to live in Birmingham and this is the part of his life I am trying to unearth. His death certificate in 1944 suggested he had used an incorrect age whilst in Birmingham.

I am going to start by getting a Margaret birth cert but I hope to find the marriages (if any) of Margaret, Gladys and John and of course any other bits and pieces of interest

I will try that 'ancestry' website shortly.
