I have read most of the posts and replies in this forum and I am grateful for the help they have given me so far.
I have my ancestors birth date. and place of birth and he survived the war. In 1915 he would have been old enough to enlist he was born in 1896, that he was in the air force, and came down and broke both his wrists. I thought perhaps he had transferred from the army, say the Manchester Regiment, especially when I saw one on this forum had done this and then gone back later to this Regiment. I have checked the Medal Rolls, there are three with his name, but the Roll does not actually identify if several are of the same name, the information is limited. He is not on the Manchester Roll of Honour on the Spinning the Web site. Other than his wrists he was healthy, but I cannot recall any mention of active service except this.
Could someone advise me please what I can do next, I cannot visit the archives and the last time I looked at asking a researcher to check his service record, the fees mentioned were more than I could afford.
Any advice would be really appreciated,
Thank you,
Pat
