A little help finding Mcbrides please?
« on: Sunday 01 October 06 14:33 BST (UK) »
Hello

I have traced my family to the 1841 census but then the majority of them disappear until 1881

I have found an 1881 reference of a James Mcbride born Ireland c1825 Wife Margaret born Ireland c1828 and they have a child Catherine born Scotland c1868.

Did they run off to scotland!!! We did think that we were Scottish McBride and not Irish ones so maybe this is where it comes from.

Any help would be great

Jane

Hi Jane

Is this the right entry for the Catherine born c.1868? It's the only one showing for a Catherine with parents James and Margaret on IGI:

CATHERINE JANE MCBRIDE  Birth: 03 MAR 1868  Bo'Ness, West Lothian, Scotland
Parents: Father: JAMES MCBRIDE    Mother: MARGARET MCCRACKEN

If it's the right parents, these are the other children showing for them:

1. WILLIAM MACBRIDE Birth: 26 APR 1862 Bo'Ness, West Lothian, Scotland
2. GEORGE MACBRIDE Birth: 07 OCT 1864 Bo'Ness, West Lothian, Scotland
3. MARGARET MCBRIDE Birth: 18 AUG 1857 Bo'Ness, West Lothian, Scotland
4. JAMES MCBRIDE Birth: 01 MAR 1860 Bo'Ness, West Lothian, Scotland

There is also what looks like a marriage for them in Ireland, again from IGI, an actual extract:

JAS. MCBRIDE  Marriages: Spouse: MARGARET MCCRACKEN
Marriage:  24 JUN 1845  0131, Rasharkin, Antrim, Ireland

Regards.

Thanks for looking but I don't think thats them.

James was living with his parents in Manchester in 1841 so unless he returned to Ireland to marry and then moved to Scotland.....

I was clutching at straws a bit with this one...I'll have to keep looking

Thanks for your time

Jane
