can anyone help please,i am unable to find the parents of my g/g/grandfather george murgitroyd who was born in london 1808/9, he married elizabeth woods and had 5 children, namely, elizabeth,martha,sarah,george and james, and he was a waterman on the river thames. thank you

Sorry cannot help directly but ...

It appears on the 1861 census he is aged 50 and birthplace noted as Woolwich Kent.

hi biker, thanks for your reply, like you i got the 1861 census, but have not tryed the parish records, will let you know how i get on, thanks again,,,freeway
