I first posted my family history queries on RootsChat almost 20 years ago now, I am still posting updates on my old threads hoping to make matches with any other folk researching the same lines.

Maria Jeffery Veal was my 3GG and there is a bit of a family mystery attached to her daughter Emma (illegitimate before she married John Abbott) which I am trying to solve and in desperation, I did a search in Google and stumbled across your post from years ago.

Whilst researching Maria and her husband John Abbott, I had the same head scratching moment as you did, but as I spent a long time trying to find parish records for Maria as I was sure she died in 1858 and this was indeed the case, thanks to FreeReg: https://www.freereg.org.uk/search_records/581850e7e93790ec75075127/maria-abbott-burial-lincolnshire-south-ormsby-1858-01-25?locale=en

In 1859, the widower John Abbot married Mary Ann Lidget:

So Maria and Mary were certainly not the same person!

If you have any information on the Veal's (they are quite hard to track down as they often show up as Neal, Vale, Veall, you name it)!
