What sort of birth details other than date and names of parents?- birth certificate will list exact place of birth (townland) which will give you an area to start searching for church records, etc.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Hi Sid,

I've just discovered that Curtin is one of the family surnames from Cape Clear Island, Co Cork. If you think there may be a link with Cape Clear please contact Mary O'Driscoll. Click here for contact details.

Margaret Curtain has devoted a lot of time to Curtin/Curtain/Curtayn  research in general though more specifically in the Cork/Kerry/limerick area. Her site
http://www.geocities.com/bluegumtrees/Genealogy.html is well worth surfing.

I think the family you maybe looking for are listed in the following townland in the 1911 Census.

    * Ballybrannagh, Arabela, Co Kerry.

The Elizabeth is listed as Lizzie, 33.  Denis wouldnt have been born at the time of the census.

PS They are listed as Roman Catholic, maybe someone from that area would know where they was married and how to obtain the records.

Index to civil registrations is online (free)- search for bride and groom separately them cross-reference results for match. With the details (names, year/quarter, registration district, volume and page numbers) you can order the marriage certificate. First check 1911 census for how many years married to narrow down the date.
