Hi All,

My Great Grandfather and Great Uncle headed off to SA together. They were Horace and Noel Gresley of the 8th (Derbyshire) Coy, 4th Batt. IY.

Some of the earlier links noted nolonger work, sadly, so is there anyone who could advise me where they may have served in SA and for how long?

Thanks in advance for any help which may be offered.

Regards,

Guy

Hello

On my Grandfathers attestation papers for the Canadian Engineers in 1918 he states he had served in the Hartford Imperial Yeomanry 1908 - 1911.  Is anyone able to tell me anything about them.  Is it possible they could be in the US?

Thank you in advance
Nelly

Hi Nelly
Welcome to Rootschat :)
I suspect it is Hertfordshire Imperial Yeomanry....They were a British Military unit of Volunteers.

The British Imperial Yeomanry was disbanded in 1908.

As Ken says disbanded 1908 and became Hertfordshire Yeomanry (Territorial Force)

Thank you Ken and Ady.  He may have joined it before it was disbanded.  Would you know where I could find the records, if any please?  :)
