City Directories Philadelphia
« on: Sunday 24 September 06 17:18 BST (UK) »
Hi Guys,

one of our fellow Rootschatters suggested I have a look at the City Directories for Philadelphia in my quest to find a Great Uncle of mine.

Alexander Allan & his second wife Ella (Helen) stayed at 2942 North Orianna Street in Philadelphia in 1942, that is the last trace I have of him.

Would anyone be able to have access to the City Directories for North Orianna Street for this time period or would someone be able to tell me where I could get access to these Directories?

I am in Scotland but I have a cousin in New York who may possibly be able to go and have a look.

If anyone can shed some light on City Directories I would be greatly obliged.

Wishing you all the best,

Swally

Swally,

You can access the Philadelphia library at:

http://www.library.phila.gov/

They say "Ask a question, get an answer"

They probably have city directories for a number of years.

Cheers Fred,

It's Sunday so I would imagine thatthey would be closed.
I'll give it a wee try 2 morra.
The good thing about being in Scotland is that we are 5 hours ahead time wise so when I come in from work they are still working.

God bless time zones, I knew they were there for a reason.

Thanks again,

Swally
