Took date out now can search but have found nothing noted that Wilton was in search under places I persum as in wiltshire I have a lot of distant relatives from there but nothing found. But with only 1.1 million records on site as we speak may have to wait a while but will be brilliant!!!!!!! :D :D

I tried 4 names and not one came up - lots of "synatax errors" so don't think the bugs are out yet!!

I think the predicted arrival times are a bit erratic and on the conservative side. The roll-out didn't start until this week because of upload problems with special characters in the input files.

I'm in Gloucestershire and got access yesterday, so I think people may get access  before the expected dates  ;D

As far as the included parishes go - if the county I'm doing transcriptions for is anything to go by, all the more readily available sources have been transcribed and it's now up to individual volunteers to buy microfiche in order to do the transcriptions. I've done that for a few parishes where I have a lot of ancestors but it's going to take quite a while to get thorugh them because I can only do a small amount at a time (work commitments, eye strain, etc)

I can sympathise with people who tried to volunteer and got no response. That happened to me too on a different county  >:( (but then, they're a bit short of county co-ordinators too, I think...)

Please, please please - if you can possible get to some microfiche and transcribe, do - it's going to be very useful to all of us!

Especially looking for - Sealey, Rogers, Cannings, Box, Sheppard in Wiltshire; Virgin, Slade, Abbott, Saint, Harper, Silverthorn in Somerset; and Virgin, Tarr, Beer in Devon

And most especially the origins of William Cannings,  a Baptist, born abt 1791 in Broughton Gifford, Wiltshire

Just a reminder . . . before you even try searching for anything, try the "Counties and Parishes" link.

This may save you from having to be sad about not having full access yet  :) :)

Quote
Click on the link "counties and parishes"
you get a list of county links, which takes you to a table of parishes, complete with coverage.
This is meant mainly for people thinking of transcribing, but it makes a good guide for "users" as well.

Most parishes are "in progress" but click on Somerset to see an example of what's available.

Also useful:  The place/town names are links to a GENUKI page on that place/town   :) :)
