Mucklow family - help please
« on: Wednesday 20 September 06 20:21 BST (UK) »
I am trying to find census entries for Emma Harbron Mucklow.  She was married in 1878, so I am looking for entries before that to help track down her parents.  She was born in 1859/60 and her father's name is Joseph Mucklow.

By the time of her marriage she was living in Northumberland, but the only Mucklow's I have come across prior to this come from the midlands.

If anyone is able to find any reference to Emma or Joseph that would be great.

Thanks in advance

Kate

We haven't been able to track down her birth, and the marriage certificate doesn't say where she was born, although she was living in Tynemouth by that point.

She married George Gardner Scott in 1878, and in 1881 she was living with him and their first two children at 71 Albert Street Gateshead.

Cheers

Kate

Hi Kate

Ive had a good look round for Emma on the cencuses but cant find anything that fits.
2 births which you probably have...one in 1859 West Bromwich the other in 1860 in Warwick .
Can only suggest that if its either of these then at some point they moved up north but i cant see anything.

Sorry

Joe

IN 1881 census Emmas birthplace down as Gateshead,Durham in 1891 birthplace down as North Shields Northumberland .In
1901 birthplace states West Br??mish Durham.Cant read place ?Unless its West Bromwich and theyve put the wrong county?

Have checked Ancestrys birth index and only came up with the two found by Joe.
And cant locate her in the earlier censuses. Will look again .
Best Wishes Welsh Lady

Thanks for your help - I was worried that I was missing something obvious, but apparently not....hmmmm

I'm wondering if her unusual middle name could be involved at all?  Harbron - I've heard that children born out of wedlock often took their father's name as a middle name.  Her father is given on her marriage certificate as Joseph Mucklow, but I'm wondering if Harbron comes into it somewhere or other...

Hi

I looked for a marriage for Joseph to a lady called Harman, I thought she may have been given her mothers maiden name for her middle name and I cannot find one ???

I also can see the two Emma's one born Warwick and one Shropshire.

Good luck with it, I also will have another look later, but I am off to view new cars - I hate doing this would rather be rellie hunting :D
