Tazey/Rutherford
« on: Saturday 06 November 04 23:33 GMT (UK) »
Is anyone  researching the Rutherford surname from Crook Co Durham, My grandmother was born Margaret Ann Rutherford,  She was born in Crook  in1881,  She married Emanuel Tazey[my grandfather in 1900] in Co Durham. I do not seem to be able to find anyone so far with links to my Grandmother, Ido know that my Grandmother had 2 possibly 3 sisters.  Any information would be gratefully  appreciated.  THANKS   MAUREEN.

Hi
Do you have the marriage certificate to give her fathers name?there are a couple that could be her in the 1891 census.

Ello

How far did you get with your search as I have an univestigated link with Crook My father had an uncle there but I don't know of anything other than a sweet shop a brewery and a pub.   The pub is still there it is now called "the Royal Sun" opposite St Catherines church

Hallo Maureen,

I'm helping my sister - Valerie - who is trying - (trying being the operative word!!!) - to trace her husband's Tazey family.

The info she has at the moment:-

Valerie's, husband was - CHARLES EDWARD TAZEY - B. 1930 - Hexham - Died 1984 in Nottingham.

Father's Christian name unknown
Mother's maiden name - STRONG - Christian name unknown.

Charles Edward Tazey's, Mum died circa 1986?

Known siblings of Charles Edard Tazey:-

DOROTHY M. TAZEY - B 1933 - Hexham
NORMAN TAZEY       - B 1938 - Northumberland W.
JOHN G. TAZEY       - B 1943 - Northumberland W.
(John G. died as a young child - maybe 5/6 years old - but no definite proof.)

There is another brother Thomas William/William Thomas? - but have not found his birth - still looking.

Valerie, remembers her husband talking abut his Granddad - Emmanuel Tazey.
Think this is probably the son of James Tazey?

Valerie, married Charles Edward Tazey in Nottingham - think it was 1965.

Do any of these names mean anything to you?

Warm regards

Eunice

Hallo DS,

I'm having some problems with my 'puter and I do hope you received my 'Thank You' message sent last night (Tuesday) - just after 10 p.m.??

In case it didn't get to you, here it is again:-

MY GOODNESS, however did you find this marriage - I have searched on
Ancestry from 1925 through to 1938 and could not find any marriage record??

Obviously, as I used to say to the kids 'Well, you haven't looked properly,
otherwise you would have found it!!'  Did you find it on Ancestry - if so,
then I really must make an appointment with the optician - Oh God, something
else going wrong with my body.   There's nothing to be said for getting old
....... but again, if I think of the other alternative, then maybe getting
old isn't that bad!

Not only did you find the marriage but also the death record for young John
G. - again, my sincere thanks.  Must admit, I had not started any research
on this.

THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH - I'm going to buy you an orange for Christmas!!!
:)

My sister will be delighted - I can't even ring her - she goes to bed round
about 9.30 p.m. - she's not too well at the moment  but I know she will want
to say 'Thank You' for all your hard work on her behalf.

I meet such friendly, helpful and generous spirited people in my quest to
get my family history.

Once again DS, my sincere thinks.

Warm regards

Eunice in Nottingham

hi unice.
at 7.45 last night  i also sent you a personal message offline.
with the same info.
george tazey was my mums eldest brother.
my mum is still alive, she is 90 years old this year.
but she is of very sound mind.
george & may had two sons who died young.
one was drowned in a septic water tank.
the other contacted meningitis when he was two, which left him in quite a bad way mentally.
he died when he was about 8 years old after being hit on the side of the head in the school playground.
in my message last night i had asked you to give me a ring at home.
but perhaps you did not receive it.
kind regards.
maureen.
