Hi F.H.

My Suttons lived in Chadwell Heath and Dagenham. Do you have any links with them?

I would be interested about your West Ham Suttons - my gr. grandfather and 2 of his daughters married in West Ham and I have often wondered if they were linked to the Stratford Suttons.  Also have you ever heard of Sutton Music School in Stratford? I've seen that mentioned in a family History Society Mag.

Hello Pugs.

My Sutton's came from the Romford area around the 1830/40s and lived at Barrack ground, Romford during the 1851 census.
This is now where Waterloo Road is, just off London Road. You don't have to go very far and you are in Chadwell Heath...

It was around the late 1800s/early 1900s that they were in the West Ham area where my great great grandfather William George SUTTON married. Also my granny, Gertrude SUTTON married my grandfather Stanley SHARP in West Ham.

I don't know of the Stratford Sutton's, but it is possible as there were several brothers and sisters. I was born in Stratford, but most of my Sutton family lived Little Ilford way, East Ham and Manor Park.

What was you grandfathers name?

Regards,
Fred.

Hi Fred,
I took a look at your Suttons 1851. I have looked at them before - George was a rag dealer wasnt he.  My older Suttons were baptised in Romford but I have never found a baptism for my gr. grandfather Henry Sutton born 1835 Dagenham/Chadwell Heath.

I have checked probably just about every Sutton living around mine - especially those who use same names as my family. Funnily enough the name Fred appears alot amongst mine - Alfred and Frederick.   One of them - Fred Sutton born in late 1800s early 1900s was a clockmaker.

Henry was eligitimate, but his mother was Elizabeth and his grandparents were Thomas and Ann Hannah Sutton.  Thomas dies before the 1841 census so I dont know where he was born.

If your George was baptised in Romford he could be related to the Stapleford Abbott Suttons - there is a Thomas Sutton born Romford I think it was 1812 - father John (from the IGI data).

My Phillips and Sheas were born and brought up around the Stratford/Bromley/Manor Park area. William Street,Church Street,Washington Street, Chandos St and Greenhill Grove. They moved around alot!!

Anyway. I'll close here.

regards
Angela

Hi F.H.

I also have links with the name West from West Ham.  My great grandfather James Beat married a Mary Ann West in 1930.  This was a 2nd marriage for both of them as Mary Ann was formerly Martin.

Look forward to hearing from you if there is a possible connection.

Regards
Cheryl

Hi Cheryl.   :)

Sorry about the delay.   ::)
My great grandfather was James Thomas WEST b.1862 in Shoreditch, London. It was when he had married and had his family that he lived in West Ham, Maud Street. This would have been in the late 1880s/90s

He was married to Jessie Augusta KEMP in 1886. He had to my knowledge three children in wedlock, but I am informed that he also had other children... if you know what i mean.    :o :o

He lived until he was about 99 years of age, opposite Forrest Gate police station, as i remember going to see him when i was a lad in the early 1960s.

Let me know if you think there may be a connection please, look forward to hearing from you.

Regards
Fred.

Hi Fred

I've only recently found my links with the West line, but because my Mary Ann was a West by marriage before she married my g-grandfather, its only a distant link.

Her first husband was Percy born c.1867 in Hastings and they married in Southwark in 1895.

It looks likely that your West's and mine may not be the same but I'll keep searching and who know's what may turn up.

Good luck with your research.

Regards
Cheryl

Hi F.H,

I have links with the Snellings of little Ilford, West/East Ham and Manor Park. If you could tell me who your specifically looking for, I may be able to help. I have just started resarching this side of my family tree, but have managed to uncover quite a bit about the Snellings I am related to.
