Does anyone have any info - or know where I will find- anything on Stutton Grove, nr Tadcaster - which appears in 1861 census and judging from the number of boaders and apprentices is a school?
One of my ancestors William Thompson from Chester le Street seems to have spent some time there before returnong to his parents.

Google threw this up:

Basically all it says is "Stutton Grove is a large scholastic establishment", which would seem to confirm your theory.  The local Archives may have some records.
