Marriage circa1820 Mendlesham area

Hi,
I would be very grateful if anyone could do a marriage look up in the Mendlesham, Hartismere , Bosmere districts of Suffolk for:

John Ager born c. 1791  Mendlesham and
Mary ??     born c.1796.

Their first child Alfred was born c. 1823

The only marriage on Boyds marriage index. Also found on the IGI but not in the Mendlesham area.

Was Alfred their first child?

I've just found the record of John's marriage to Mary in 1817 and I believe their firs child was my ancestor - Henry, baptised in Mendlesham in December 1817.  I know this original post is very old but can I pick your brains about the family a little bit if you have some more information, please?  I'd be very happy to share what I know if it helps.

The Ager side is my partners family, originating from Mendlesham. He is descended through Alfred Ager born c1823 who went on to marry Sarah Browse.
Quickly looking at my research I have Alfred as son of John Ager and Mary Clarke, along with siblings John,Frederick,Maria,Charles and George and now possibly Henry.
I have a possible baptism for John 16/03/1781 son of Joseph and Mary Hemp. Also possible marriage Joseph Eager and Mary Hemp(Kemp) 2 June 1775.
Very happy to share anything I have and maybe pick your brains too!

Thank you for the welcome!  This is my first experience of Roots - or much outside Ancestry.co.uk to be honest!

My maiden name is Ager so I'm a fairly direct descendant which makes it all the more interesting.  I had done a lot of work on Henry and his parents but only recently (this Summer) found out I'd been chasing the wrong John Ager - a John Ager from Clare who was a millwright rather than a wheelwright.  I'll take a few deep breaths here and be in touch more intelligently in the next day or so!

I have the record for John's marriage to Mary Clark or Clarke and Henry's baptism on 7th December 1817 in Mendlesham.  Father's occupation was given as wheelwright and I know from the Suffolk Records Office research that the baptism records for some of the other children of John and Mary show father's occupation as wheelwright or agricultural labourer so I'm presuming he (John) had up and down fortunes.

I'm pretty sure I have found John and Mary and the children in the 1841 and 1851 census although John and Mary's ages vary greatly.  I can find no record of Henry anywhere until his 1948 marriage to Charlotte Wright in Coddenham.  Henry was a shoemaker and I can't find him in Mendlesham or Coddenham but he may have gone further afield for some sort of shoemaking apprenticeship?  I have followed Henry after his marriage until his death.

I think Henry must have been the eldest child of John and Mary and presume he was born fairly soon after their marriage?

Did you find the birth and marriage information for John Ager on FamilySearch or elsewhere?  Do you have any confirmed information regarding the death of John and Mary as there are several possibilities listed in the death indexes?

In 1851 Henry & Charlotte Ager were living in Coddenham
1861 & 1871 they were in Ipswich

Henry died in Ipswich in 1879

Charlotte was living in Ipswich with her large brood in 1881

Could she have died in West Suffolk in 1887?

In 1891 some of the Charlotte's grand children were in a children's home in St John's  Ipswich
