Hi
As regards David wasn't unusual for mum to go home to mum for borth of first child (provided wasn;t the ends of earth to travel) so that would certainly explain that one.
Re the church - a lot of what were non conformist chruchges at time have now disappeared and the church may have retained name but is now Church of Scotland. That's definietly one for the Scottish National Archives.
I;ve had same issue myself about what's what in my home towen cos they are not what they were then and in some cases have changed names as well. grrrrr
]Is worth giving the free church HQ a ring . I did and got a list from them which I then rang NAS with and they matched! Free church haven't got the records tho but NAS have.
hey ho! we soldier on!
