Hiya Lynn,

And a warm welcome to Rootschat.

I started my tree just over a year ago with about the same amount of info.  It can be done, and in Scotland it's a bit easier (with luck) because of the info you get.

Unfortunately the more recent info (post-1954 deaths, post-1928 marriages, and post-1903 births) are NOT available online.  If you can get to Edinburgh, to the General Records Office then it costs £17 but you have access to ALL certs online or on fiche upto this year.

For older certs, as in ones from 1855 upto the dates above they are available on a pay per view basis at ...

This site also has the old parish records and 1881, 1891 & 1901 census which might be your place to start if you can't get to Edinburgh or a look up.

The presumption is that Henry will be alive in 1901 - we just have to find him!

You could order the marriage certificate from 1943 - it would cost £5 or £6 and it will give you the names of both mothers (maiden names as well) and both fathers.

Once you've confirmed them on the 1901 then you're off - there'll be no stopping you.

Best of Luck,
Pam
