Harold Edwards, nephew, where did you come from...where did you go..
« on: Thursday 14 September 06 21:56 BST (UK) »
On the 1901 census,Harold Edwards is listed as nephew, age 1, born in Bradford and living with the family of William J. and Emma Daley and their four children, also living in Bradford. Who were his parents and what became of him? Emma's sister married Caleb Edwards but she was widowed in 1894 so could this be her child born of one parent? ::)

Thanks, will have to look at that. I found a number of people with the same name and dates so may have to check them one by one to see who the parents are.

when the relationship on the census is given as nephew or niece, it doesn't necessarily mean that it's the son or daughter of a brother or sister. It can be a much looser relationship and can describe a child taken into the household. There's a girl living with some of my relatives in 1891 and 1901 described as niece on one census and grand-daughter on another - she was neither in the sense we understand now.

Hi,

Just in case you didn't know, Wellington was the registration district for Bradford, so that may narrow it down  :)
