Hello Millie,

Do you have a Robert Alexander Anderson in your line? born c 1860 - 1875?? Scotland?
He was in the Army; Cape Town 1895 -1896 and India till at least 1908.
Royal Highlanders and 91st regiment mentioned.

A wee bit more info Millie?
What era?
Any family members in particular?
I've got Andersons in that area but Anderson is the 3rd most common name in Glasgow!
It's like Jones in Wales.

Hi Dave,
Not sure if you are replying to my post or millie as you have stated?

Millie posted that in Sept 2006.

I didn't notice that till I had sent my post........so not sure if we will hear from her.
Do you live in Scotland?
If so do they have Army registers available for look ups?

I am desperate to find my Robert Alexander Anderson that married into my McPherson family, above so would be grateful of some advice as to where I can next look.

Never noticed that the original post was from 2006.
If we hear from Millie that would be nice but, in hindsight, unlikely.

Yep, I'm in Scotland - a wee village called Glasgow, just west of Edinburgh.

As far as Robert Alex Anderson is concerned, I assume you've been in SP?  Do you know more about him that would help narrow it down?

Dave

Have a look at this attachment.

SP = scotlandspeople =  if so  yes!!!! have spent ...lets say lots! .... [coz I live in Aust have to deal with the exchange rate!!!!] found lots and lots was wrong including some certificates....luck of the draw!

He was married in the Army 1895 Cape Town S.Africa some children were born in India, have birth of 4th child was born in  Edinburgh, have that certificate, says he is Seargent Royal Highlanders.

My Alexander McPherson ended up in Glasgow, he was an Engineer at the port of Greenock.
Parents were in Mary Hill, Glasgow.

You've lost me completely.  Where did McPherson come into the equation?
As much as I'd like to help, I'm too confused.
Sorry.
I've obviously missed something so won't bother joining in on this thread agin.

Only kidding!  ;D

What I'd like to know is what you mean by Mr Anderson marrying into your McPherson family.  Would they not become Andersons?

Just for stupid old me ..... spell out what you know.

No-one else seems to be getting involved.
