Yes, I'd be interested to see photos from 1913. Many thanks.

Hi Fliss and Jimmy Mac,

I will get back to you with the photos.  My father has only recently passed away and they are in his house in frames.  Once things have returned to normal I will sort out loading the photos on and emailing to you.  If you haven't heard from me after say 4 weeks ....please send me a reminder as that will make me pull my finger out!  They are group shots on the steps and the year could be earlier than 1913 as my Grandfather would have been 24 then....I think it could be a few years earlier.

Speak soon!

Does anyone know of anything on line that would list students or graduates of the Westminster Training College, say between 1851 and 1880?  I am trying to find info and the ancestry of Alfred Hosking who was a student there;  he went on to an illustrious career in education in England and finally New Zealand.  Thanks..Meli in Texas

I realise this an old thread but I am now looking into my Grandfathers training. He too was at Westminster 1910 -1912 before joining the RAMC.

IS there any chance of seeing those photos? PM for my email.

Hi diddy

omegasom hasn't been online here since June 2012.

Unfortunately he won't get a notification that you have posted (his profile for notifications is set to 'instantly but only for the first unread reply', as he won't have seen the previous post by melibob in 2014.

You could try sending him a personal message in the hope he gets a notification for that and comes back.

A quick note for anyone who stumbles across this thread in the hopes of finding information about their ancestor/the general history of Westminster Training College.
The College was established by the Wesleyan Methodist Church in 1851, and trained both men and women until 1872, which is when Southlands College was established. At this point, Westminster trained the men, and Southlands the women. Between 1914 and 1918, the College buildings were used by the Australian military as their base, and the College evacuated to Richmond College. From 1930, Westminster was affiliated with the University of London. In 1944, the college was bombed, finally being fully rebuilt in 1948. In 1951, HRH Princess Elizabeth (later The Queen) visited for the College centenary. In 1959, Westminster relocated to Harcourt Hill (near Oxford) and became part of its Institute of Education.
In 2000, Westminster College merged with Oxford Brookes University.

For more information, or to enquire as to the contents of the College archive, please email admin dot ocmch at brookes.ac.uk.
Thank you. :)
