Hello Andy,
                          All from the 1851 census

Charles Chase:

1851 Ho107/1803 folio 120 page 18 Leiston Suffolk

Charles Chase Head 53 ag lab bn. Westleton
Sarah wife 48 bn. Linton
John son 23 whitesmith bn. Linton
Jonathon son 20 whitesmith bn. Linton
Caleb son 11 bn. Linton
Mary Ann daur 9 bn. Linton
Elizabeth Nichols mother in law 81 receiving parish relief bn. Parham ( not too sure of "P")

Do you know where Robert was from?

There is a Robert with a Jane in Middx. He was born in Lynn Norfolk. The year is right 1808.
There is also a Robert with a Harriot. This Robert was born in Stradbroke in 1810. Right county wrong year.

Have not found James.

There are a couple of younger Cornelius' from Benhall but the one from 1769 has passed on. Jemima is still around with her daughter another Jemima a school governess. If you would like the details let me know.

Charles Chase 1767................probably dead.

Richard could possibly be in Eythorne Kent. HO107/1631 folio 487 page 11.

Richard Chase 80 Ag lab bn. Suffolk
Mary wife 70 bn. Chislet Kent
Jane Knott widow daur 34 seamstress bn. Eythorne Kent.

Have fun,

Linda  :)

Hello Andy,

Info requested as follows:

HO107 1802 folio 632 Benhall

Cornelius Chase Head 36 farm lab. bn Benhall
Mary             "      Wife  30                        "
Cornelius       "     Son    7                         "
Frederick         "    Son    4                         "
Charles Major "     Son    1                         "

Also in the same household

Jemima Chase       Head Widow 78 Pauper          bn. Morlsford (I think this may be Marlesford)                                                                                                      Suffolk
Jemima     "           Daur    U        43 School governess        bn. Benhall

Then HO107 1802 folio 648 Church house Benhall

Richard Chase Head 40 carpenter   bn. Benhall
Mary                 Wife 39                              "
Mary                 Daur 13                              "
Cornelius           Son 10                              "
Reuben              Son  5                                "
Caleb                 Son  2                                "
Sarah Ann Chaplin niece 5                           "

I don't know whether you know this, but Charlie Chaplin's ancestors came from Suffolk, and in Stella Colwell's book 'Tracing your family history' in the TY teach yourself series she has a whole chapter devoted to Charlie Chaplins family as a case study.

There were some Chaplins in Great Finborough which is not a million miles away from Benhall! 15 to be precise.

Any way just a thought.
