CODLING-1871 Census @ South Shields

Hi Everyone!

Could SKS please perform a lookup in the 1871 census for the following CODLING family who were living in Simonside Lane, Westoe, South Shields in 1881, however Joshua was listed as being born in Tyne Dock:

Robert  Head age: 44 years POB: Willington, NBL
Dorothy (or Dora) Wife age: 42 years  POB: Long Horsley, NBL
Mabel  Daur age: 7 years
Robert William  Son age: 5 years
John Henderson  Son age: 2 years
Joshua  Son age: 1 year

Any information would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks for those!  I think Robert was still at home with his parents in 1851 as he didn't marry 'till 1855 - but not certain where they were then, poss. Newcastle?!?

Sorry can't help further - I only have census for South Shields 1851 name index and 1891 transcript. Do you know where they married? That might give you a clue.

Excellent, Jan thank you!  The M.I. was definitely related to this family.

Robert & Dorothy married in 1855 at St John the Baptists in Newcastle but their son Joshua was born in 1870 in Tyne Dock.  All of their children were born in Simonside/Tyne Dock area so I would expect to find them there in 1871, especially since they were in Westoe in 1881 and three of their children were living in 36 Frost Street, Tyne Dock in 1891 (Robert & Dorothy both died prior to this).
