COMPLETED 1851, Pinching family, Walthamstow,please.

Hi,

I am looking for the Pinching family as follows:

Richard Lloyd Pinching, head, occupation probably Surgeon
Mary Matilda Pinching, wife
William Hamilton Pinching, son aged about 13yrs

According to William's birth cert his father was a surgeon and they were living in 1838 in Marsh Street, Walthamstow.

The earliest I have been able to find any record of William is in 1866 here in NZ. He was a chemist/druggist.

I have found his Mothers death on Free BMD in 1881 but very little else on this family, including brothers or sisters, so any help would be appreciated.

Wow, that is impressive, thank you so much.  Looks like William left before the 1861 census (Walthamstow anyway) will have to see if I can find him here a bit earlier.

Frances:  Thank you for the additional information, I didn't have those details for Richard and Horatio ( I had wondered about the initial 'N' ) all helps to fill in the broader picture.

Barbara: Looks like I will have to get out the atlas again and find Finsbury.  .  I found Horatio on the 1881 census, he was back in Walthamstow, Mary Matilda, his Mother,was living with him and his two daughters in Beulah Street but he had progressed from a Auctioneer to a Stockbroker by then. 
I imagine William was learning his trade somewhere in the UK too about that time, probably in London somewhere, or maybe with a family colleague/ friend / associate.  From what I can see he didn't seem to attend a college and obtain professional qualifications( I'm thinking of his fathers MRCS) but he was certainly accepted here by the NZ Govt as a suitable  person to be an"Appointed Vaccinator" and run a chemist/druggist shop. I think I will ask on the 'occupations' part of this board to see if there was such a thing as a 'chemists school' in the 1850/60's or if it was something you 'grew into, by practice' so's to speak. Apprenticeship is the word!

Dear Kiwi

Some time has past since you requested information about the Pinching family, so I hope you get this message.  I work in London for the West Norwood Cemetery and have been conducting some surveys on some of our old graves within the site.  A part of this survey is to find out if there are any living descendants to some of our older graves and upon Google searching Horatio Nelson Pinching I found this thread.  Basically, I think I found (at best) a plot that was owned by HM Pinching and the final resting place for Frances S Pinching, recorded at 1910.

Please get back to me I would love to her from you.
