Hi

Can anyone tell me if there has ever been, or perhaps, still is, a Guinness Brewery in the Nottinham area.

Thanks

Hi

I don't think so. The breweries in Nottingham were Shiptones and Home brewery. They are both closed down now.

There may have been a company who bottled Guinness, the guiness was shipped over in bulk, and then the company bottled in, this was done through out the UK, i recall obtaining some in draught form, from a company in Ashton U Lyne in the 1950s. bodger

Hi

I have never heard of it. Only Shippos and Home Ales.

Hi

I have had another thought. Home Ales was taken over by Scottish & Newcastle. They may well have had something to do with Guinness then. But because it has all closed down now there is no information. If Scottish & Newcastle still exist you could try them.

Hiya IAFC,

I'm surprised that you have not been asked why you posed this question.

What makes you think Guinness may have had a brewery in the Nottingham area? Did one of your ancestors work for the company?

Have you thought of contacting either the Brewery History Society or even better contacting the Guinness Archive?

I hope my reply is of some assistance to you.

Chris
