There's a possible arrived Jul 01, 1923, Edward Craig, aged 33 years 7 months, a coal miner, his wife Mrs C. Craig at home, 27 Main Street, Calderernix.  Heading to Salt Lake, has an uncle there, James Hendry, 2310 S. 7th Street, Salt Lake City. Is 5'8", fresh complexion, brown hair, green eyes, born 'Hamannan'.

They emigrated quite a while after they married, do you know if they had children/names of the children?  Or whenabout Catherine was born?

Hello Jorose,
Thankyou for that reply.

Hamannan could be Slamannan. My Dad remembers his Uncle Edward so 1923 seems a bit early but you never know. He was born in 1889 so the age is right. Catherine would have been born around 1891.

They had one son before they left Scotland who ,I believe, was called Campbell.

I was trying to avoid ordering the death cert as is was around $45. ::)

Many thanks.

PS Could Calderernix (doesn't exist)  ???be Caldercruix? This is a town in Lanarkshire where it would be very possible that they lived.

Thankyou again,
Linda

It could be Caldercruix, the form is typed but it seems like they just asked people and then put down how they thought it was spelt.  Perhaps if this was Edward then he returned to Scotland and went back again at a later date?

Especially since I can't seem to spot them in the 1930 census.

That is possible. My Dad would have been too young to know about any trips a round that time. I shall try and get some more info. The name Hendry rings a bell so I shall check that out too.

The description is amazing! He would have had a fresh complexion... those Craigs did! Ooooh I am getting carried away!  :P

Thank you for all your help jorose. I shall post again with more info when I can confirm it!
