Iam searching for the mother and maternal grandparents of Muriel Proctor born 3rd July 1916. Her father was Ethelbert Proctor born 1888 in Spalding, he later married Constance Stephenson. Muriels mother is thought to have been a seamstress to the Duchess of Rutland.

Is Constance Stephenson his 2nd wife ?

So is it his 1st wife you seek as Muriels' mother ?

No marriages in FreeBMD in Lincs - sounds like a case for - www.familyrelatives.org
(Pay to View but fully indexed 1866 - 1920; easier to searc than other implementations if you dont mind paying)

Or purchase her Birth Cert .....

assuming Lil(l)ians age similar to Ethelbert's ... and that she was always in the Derbyshire area  - you might consider these records ... however to be bulletproof, you need to purchase the Marriage Cert that Rambler found for you ... and compare Father's name to any census records found ...
