Kiln Court, Irvine
« on: Sunday 27 August 06 06:14 BST (UK) »
Hi, I have just discovered a long lost great Aunt, Elizabeth Menzies, who died in Ayrshire Central Hospital but whose usual residence was Kiln Court, Irvine.  I was wondering if anyone knows anything about this place.  I looked it up on the internet and see that it is an Aged Care facility - would it have been this kind of facility up to 1977 when she died?

As my great aunt seems to have had no other living relatives around at the time and never married, I am wondering if I wrote to Kiln Court whether they would still have any kind of records for her and whether or not they would be able to give out any information.
If anyone could share any knowledge in regards to this, I would greatly appreciate it.

Kiln court is a really nice place, they have there own apartments and a common room that most of the ppl meet and do lunch parties and so on. I am sure the ppl there would be more than willing to tell you about here there might also be pictures of her as the oap parties are in the local papers

Thanks Joanne.... I have actually been to Scotland since I made this post and visited Kiln Court while I was there but nobody remembered Elizabeth and they referred me to the local BDM office.  There were two ladies who were the cooks and they were lovely and very helpful but I didn't get to see any photos or anything.  Do you know if the local papers would have archives?
Thanks for your help, it's good to know that it's a nice place for the people who live there!
