Ann Jones 1861 Ysbytty Ystwyth/Tregaron
« on: Wednesday 03 November 04 13:51 GMT (UK) »
I am looking for Ann Jones who was born in 1829 in Ysbytty.  Her father was John Jones.  The information I have from a marriage cert is Ann was 34 when she married.  Her father john Jones was an innholder and the residence given was Glan-nant.  The marriage took place in Ysbytty Church in 1863.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am a bit stuck on this one.
Incidentally in the LDS 1881 census Anns age is put at 50 which would make her born in 1831 ?

Janet

Hello Janet,

I too am looking for an Anne Jones from Yspytty Ystywth, who was born circa 1828. She was the daughter of Thomas Jones, a miner. Have you perchance found any information about her in your research?

My findings have Anne Jones marrying Thomas Jones of Ystrad Meurig on 7 Mar 1849 at Ysbytty Ystwyth church. They lived near Ystrad Meurig in a cottage called Blaen Sychnant. She was still alive in 1901 for the census.

I've recently ordered the Ysbytty Ystwyth parish records from my local LDS family history center, so I'll keep an eye out for your Ann Jones when I am reviewing those records.

regards,

Chris

I've also got a Thomas Jones, a lead miner in Ysbytty Ystwyth, born in Tregaron in 1822. He married Anne Wood, nee Davies (she had been previously married to Thomas Wood).

Thomas' parents were Thomas and Hannah.

I've not been able to identify Anne's parents, nor her baptism. According to the census', she was born abt 1809 in Cwmystwyth.

I dare say the Parish Registers you've order only go up to 1837. If you have ordeer the other film (up to 1875), any chance of a look up?

D-

I'll check and see next week on Thursday (my LDS night)... I don't rightly recall what the date ranges for the parish were, sometimes they go back considerably farther than 1837.

Hi Janet
I think I've found them in 1841......................
HO107/1374/13, Enum. dist. 8, p11, Parish of Yspytty Ystwyth.   Address - Glannant, all surnames Jones, all born in county.
John 47, Tailor
Elinor, 48
Mary, 25
John, 15
Ann, 12
Elizabeth, 5
John, 3
Strange that there are 2 junior Johns but the younger may be a grandson, but look on the bright side, 3 John Jones at one address  ;D
Hope it's of some use, cheers Dave ;)

My apologies for any copyrights violations!

I've confirmed Davierj's 1841 data with corresponding 1851 data.

Hi Chris,

I think I've fiound your Jones in 1841  :)

HO107/1374/13, Enum Dist 8, p14.   Parish of Yspytty Ystwyth.   Address - Hafodgau.   All surnames Jones, all born in county.

Thomas, 54 (I think), Lead Miner
Jane, 54,
John, 25, Lead miner
Jane, 27,
William, 17, Lead Miner
Elizabeth, 15
Joseph, 10
David, 8

The Thomas Jones, House Servant in 1851 would appear possibly not to be related.

The Thomas Jones/Jane Griffiths marriage, 13 Oct 1818, I checked for you on a different thread looks more and more promising.

Cheers Dave
