Looking for parents of James Hyett, b 1808
« on: Friday 25 August 06 14:06 BST (UK) »
I've come to a grinding halt with trying to take the Hyett side any further - can anyone help?

James Hyett, born 1808 in Brockworth, Gloucestershire

Moved to Worcestershire circa 1840s, he was a carpenter
Married Mary, son Edward Henry b 1849

Thanks!

Hi Creek Mill,

The IGI batch no. C035391 (www.familysearch.org) has Brockworth baptisms from 1580 - 1812 but there doesn't appear to be a record for James HYETT in 1808.  There is however a record for a John HYETT from 18th March 1808, parents Edward HYETT & Ann and a record for a James HYETT from 16th December 1787, parents Thomas HYETT & Mary.

Regards,

Al

I wonder if John's middle name was James and he started using his middle name later on in life?
Thanks for the lookup! :)

I've only just started my search, hence the delay in responding.
I believe James Hyett is my great great grandfather! It's interesting that he was a carpenter, because the memorial stone in Brockworth churchyard shows that Edward Hyett, John's father was as well. It also has some information about other siblings as shown on here.   http://www.wishful-thinking.org.uk/genuki/GLS/Brockworth/MIs.html

From looking at the basic records, I think it may be the same James Hyett who died in Worcester in 1886 and whose wife was possibly Mary Hyett, b. 1814  d. 1876 in Worcester.

Hope this helps.

I go through Edward H and Sarah A via their daughter, Annie Elizabeth. I tried to find Sarah, who was born in 1847, on the 1851 census, but can only find Ann Hyett, who I suppose may be the same person. I don't know if the Hyett families in Brockworth and Boddington are related, but I assumed so, as Edward and Sarah both had that surname. i searched through Brockworth churchyard last Sunday and I'll go to Boddington a.s.a.p.

I didn't reliase that Sarah's maiden was also Hyett untill I found their marriage details from 1871 - I agree with your assumption with the 1851 census, giving us George Hyett b 1813 in Brockworth as her father - I currently have my tree hosted on ancestry - if you use it I can give you access to it

I don't have my own computer but i'm allowed to do some things at work. Unfortunately, this doesn't include anything I have to pay for!

I'm using the basic Ancestry data, but i can't get into the detailed census information. I don't know if I can access your information, but I'd like to try, if that's ok.
