Hi Vickie

Have just slowly scrolled through the 86 pages of the 1841 census for Pulborough, but did not locate your Thomas Jupp or family?

These are the only 3 entries that I located for the Jupps:

JUPP William, 70, Ag Lab born in Sussex

JUPP Elizabeth, 40, Farmer
         Thomas, 15
         Henry, 15
         Anne, 11
All born in county of Sussex

JUPP William, 45, Ag Lab
         Sarah, 40
         Edward, 8
All born in county of Sussex

Hope you can fit them in somewhere

Hi Vickie - I don't know if this will help at all but I can recall a family of Jupps who lived at Rackham, nr Pulborough some 30 odd years ago..I know there are still some Jupps in Pulborough.  Maybe your family were in one of the smaller Hamlets.

I have looked in the local phone book, there is also a family in Fittleworth, just up the road from Pulbro', there are some 25 Jupps listed in the Worthing 2004/5 phone book.

There are also 1,100 Jupps on GenesReunited - 114 born in Sussex

This was posted an awful long time ago so I don't know if you are still monitoring replies. I haven't been on here in ages.

Thomas and Philadelphia are my x4 great grandparents. I am descendent through the son you mentioned - Jonathan. He was born on the 16th Feb 1812 in Itchingfield, Sussex.

He came to Australia as a convict, transported to New South Wales in 1836 on the "Moffat 2". He was sentenced to 7 years for stealing food. He was granted his certificate of freedom on the 9th October 1843.

He married Harriet Pearce in Paterson New South Wales on the 11th Sept 1849.
