To Rover. I apologise but I have discovered that the Personal Message facility is blocked for me until I have made 3 postings. I also have a feeling that other facilities may be restricted as I can find no way to start a new topic in order to help others.  It is like going to school on the first day.

I now have to make one more post to get through the first hoop . . .

Rover: hopefully this will count as my third posting  and I will no longer be a " new boy" and you will eventually be able to send me a PM.

Re Newport Isle of Wight. It is worth remembering that in old records, many of the small villages e.g. Calbourne are listed as "Newport" as they come within it's admin. district.

I am new to this forum, but this thread was very useful to me, I was never 100% sure where New Village was, I may have confused it with Pan Estate. But, given where New Village was actually situated, I would assume someone that was buried in New Village, Carisbrooke, would actually have been buried in Mount Joy Cemetery. As far as I can remember there is no other cemetery in the area. Do you think I am correct?
