1871 census help please
« on: Monday 21 August 06 23:04 BST (UK) »
Having a really hard time in locating John Barratt in the 1871, 1861, 1851 census.

From the 1881 census, John born approx. 1844 was living with wife Sarah Ann born approx. 1847 and children, Maria (1868), Elizabeth (1870), Jonathon (1873), Robert (1876), John (1878) and William (1880).  The family was living in Cheadle, Cheshire at the time of the 1881 census.

I know that John and Sarah married in 1865.  Also, John's father was named William and he was born approx. 1824 and died in 1891.  Both John and William are total mysteries.

Many thanks for any help you can give me.

Thanks again!
Cas

Hi Squirt
As for the 1851 there are a few about one has a father called William who is a farmer, and was born 1842 in Betchton,  another is spelt Barrett who is a grandson and living with a Samuel Barrett and his wife Ann at Heaton Norris, but born Stockport. Another one spelt Barrett has a father William and a mother Hannah, born Stockport but living in Ainsworth, Lancs. Wouldn't like to say if he is one of these.
