What's the best source for Irish marriages?
« on: Sunday 20 August 06 16:42 BST (UK) »
I've hit a brick wall in my research: John Clark married Bridget Fielding in Ireland (possibly Donegal) some time between 1858 and 1867. They then emigrated to England. What's the best source for Irish marriages?

Thanks,
Chris.

This is a link to the registration of births, deaths and marriages.
You can arrange some searches of marriage records there.

In that time frame the marriage would def be registered after 1864 but would only have been registered before then if not Roman Catholic (would be in Catholic parish register if it was).

Thanks for the info. Almost certainly a RC wedding, but I don't even know the town/village.

Regards,
Chris.
