One of my Bodfishes a prostitute?
« on: Saturday 19 August 06 19:19 BST (UK) »
Talking to my stepfather the other day he said that he seems to recall that one of the female bodfishes on my mum's side was a high class prostitute, but he does not know which one.

I have a choice of six born between 1850 and 1867. Where would I find out about high class prostitutes?

LOL...I wouldn't think that it was something that they would have wanted recorded(!)

And I guess that it had a fairly short career time span...(But this is just a guess:-)

I realise that is would not be topic for the dinner table.  :D However there is a vain hope that someone has been, purely from a research point of view, I hasten to add.  :o

There are quite a few threads about prostitutes. Try going into Search and entering Prostitute(s). You'll find all sorts of info.

Have a look at the census records and see what their profession is. I very much doubt if it would be "prostitute" (or even "dressmaker"!), but there might be something that does not ring quite true.

Of course. Especially as so many of my ancestors were dressmakers!
