The albion pub yarm road darlington

Hi having a big reasearch session! looking at a photograph of a family member who had his name above the pub of "the albion"- "Jacob King". Can some one please get me a image of the pub as it is now? Apparently it still exists. Or does anyone know how we could find out details on the pub and of when he owned it?

The Albion pub on Yarm Rd is still there I pass it most days when in Darlington.  Next time I pass I will note the brewery and then you might be able to get its history.

As promised I found out a bit about The Albion.  The brewery that supplies it is Federation Brewery, their address is Lancaster Rd, Dunston, Gateshead, NE11 9JR.  The address of The Albion is 16 Yarm Rd, Darlington, DL1 1XH.  It is situated at the junction of Yarm Rd and St Johns Crescent.  If you put the postcode into Streetmap.co.uk it will show you the location.  There is also a photograph of the pub at www.btinternet.com/~duffnort/DAFT2.index.html.  Happy hunting

I also found the site (independently) listed by saltscar. Try googling DAFTS Darlo or as I did Albion pub yarm road and it is the third site listed.

Laura. I stumbled across this admittedly very old post whilst rummaging around. If we have been in touch before my apologies, but I am Jacob King's great nephew and have a couple of very bad scans of him outside his pub which came from another relative researching the family. Are you in touch with Lynn C a direct descendant who is researching her side of the family?? I have been researching the Kings for many years and can let you see the  family tree on Ancestry if you haven't seen it already. I am seeing my aunt soon (aged 95) who thinks she has an original portrait of him.

I was in contact years ago with Lynn C (my Nan knew knew her June Packard, nee Cruickshank) and I have some letters she wrote to me about the family tree(I was about 15-18 years old) and though still actively search a few times a year now, didn’t fully appreciate all the research I received back then!
