Cal - great idea to start this thread, I will have to scan a bunch of pics to put on here! 

sallysmum - I don't think it was a class thing what they wore especially by 1911 or so...your grandparents are probably in their going-away clothes rather than their wedding clothes.  I know that couples often had a "wedding" photo taken weeks or months after the wedding - my grandparents did (although nana still wore her wedding dress for that occasion!)

I agree the photos are fabulous and so set the scene for the era in which they were taken. They are great to see 

Just found this one taken in North Wales I think it is my mums Cousin Nell with her uncle Robert giving her away. Not sure of the date poss C1930. Was struck by the crowd that had gathered behind them though!

Must see if I can find out more about the wedding !!

Well here is the first I've managed to dig out...my mum (at left) and her sister were the flowergirls for their dad's cousin's wedding.  This would have been in about 1939/40, in Sydney.

You might have seen these before, but they are on the other weddings thread which is Totally off Topic, so I'm bringing them over here.
First, the wedding of my Uncle Ernest and Aunt Nellie.
The bridesmaid on the left is my cousin Joan, who not many months later died of meningitis.

Mother and Father, Jess and Joe.
Mother is wearing a lovely Tudor Cap edged with wax orange blossom.
During the war years the cap and veil was loaned out many times, and suffered for it.
