SS 'ASTURIAS' Passenger List 1950 to Oz Lookup Offer
« on: Wednesday 16 August 06 23:22 BST (UK) »
Hi all, I have a partial civilian passenger list for the Asturias which departed Southampton 8 Feb 1950, arriving Fremantle 6 March. The names are Annandale to Murphy- for Fremantle, and Kerby to Mitchell for Melbourne.
If anyone would like a lookup, I'd be happy to help.
Regards, Irene

Hi Ozchook    :)

I don't need a lookup from you but you have just solved something that I have been looking for. I have a family who came out from Kent in 1948 on this ship and none of them could remember the spelling and I hadn't had any luck with a google search, so thankyou.

Hi Cazay, You're welcome; glad to have helped.
Up until a couple of years ago, when I got the passenger list, I thought it was spelt Astorius. Since then, thanks to the correct spelling, I've found a couple of sites with the photo of the ship, via Google.

Hi ozchook! Hoping you still come to this site as I am very interested in this offer. I am pretty sure my husband came on this voyage with his family. Their surname is Dare and there should be 2 adults and two children. I would love to verify that fact if possible so would really appreciate your help. I am also wondering where they disembarked - I suspect it was Melbourne or further north if that voyage went there so I may be unlucky.
Thanking you  :)

Here's a new Website for the SS ASTURIAS

I'm sure those of you who travelled on it will love it.

I travelled on the ASTURIAS in 1951. Arrived Fremantle 30th Sept and and arrived at Station Pier Melbourne on a beaut Sat morning 5th Oct 1951.

I suppose you all know that just before the big ship went to the scrapyard it was used for scenes of the film A Night to Remember

story being about the TITANIC.

That ship has a nice piece of history.  I have a pic of it hanging on wall in my hallway.
