I DON'T KNOW IF THIS IS OF ANY HELP OR INTEREST TO YOU BUT I AM ALSO RESEARCHING THE SURNAME DOWN FROM DORSET AS MY GT GRANDFATHER JOHN DOWN LL I KNOW IS THAT HE WAS B IN CRANBOURNE DORSET OTHER THAN THIS I KNOW VERY LITTLE PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU THINK THAT THERE MIGHT BE A CONNECTION.
