The Stanley, County Durham Mallett (Mallel) seems to NOT to be  the painter. Census 1891 has him as a 23 year old bachelor living 7 Townley Street, Havannah which is another name for West Stanley. Occupation Railway Laborer (spelled the American way). He was baptized 12 February 1868, Reedham, Norfolk, illegitimate son of Susan Mallett.

Hi Carolyn. I’m a bit puzzled by your reference to London. I’m not saying that it’s not true. It’s just that I don’t know much about my family’s history beyond my great grandfather, John Mallett. Robert’s father may have been my great grandfather’s brother.
My great grandfather, John Mallett was born in Norwich and lived there all of his life. He was a builder. That’s why I’m surprised by your research. It’s all very interesting. How did you discover those facts? Unfortunately all those people that may have known have died. All the paintings by R Mallett that I have seen have been of woodland and landscape around Norwich. My Great Grandfather was the Robert Mallett in this post and my Grandfather is Robert Henry Mallett mentioned in a previous post.

I have a number of the paintings and would like to apquire more.

Hi Robert,

All members can turn notification on or off per topic, so if someone wishes not to be notified further they can click on the un-notify button. Sonia in this case has received an email notification from us and she has then selected to stop all emails from RootsChat so when we try to notify her they are returned to us with a message to say that they are blocked.

It could be that she simply is no longer working for the company. ?

Thanks for your response to my post.  It wasn’t actually me who made any reference to London.  I have no information on Robert Mallett other than what I have read on this forum.  However, the more I have read and followed links and images of paintings by Robert Mallett, I am convinced that the painting in my mother’s possession is a genuine and original work by Robert Mallett.  I am not sure where to go from here or how to research any more information on relatives, past or present, that I might have a connection to.
I would appreciate any more advise you might have, thank you.
