Re Thomas and Sarah, there are several Petter children bapt. in Rogate pre-1821 with same parents' names so there may have been another Thomas and Sarah married earlier??

These ones may be mine, so to speak - I have a Thomas Petter marrying a Sarah Tipper on 21 April 1811 in Rogate on my tree. I'm interested in the Tippers so I haven't chased up their children but I must admit I wondered whether Samuel Petter was one of theirs

Seeing that both these families cam from Rogate, I am interested in the ALBURY family.

I have ROBERT ALBURY bapt. 27th October 1820.   Rogate.

Cannot find his parents  neither a possible marriage or death.

Is it possible Robert could be related to this family?

;D Poor Deborah wont have anything left to research  ;D

Rogate, West Sussex,   18 Oct 1821:
Thomas PETTER, bach
Sarah GOSDEN, sp botp (B) wcop
Witness wit; Ric.G.; Eliz.CAPLIN

This is the nearest I could get for a marriage of James & Rose.  Perhaps Rose was a pet name for Rhoda?  Noticed that their first child was born (IGI) in 1808, so could well be them.

Rogate, West Sussex,    6 Nov 1804:
 James ALBURY, bach
 Rhoda LUCKINS, sp botp (B)
 w: Hny JUPP Nemmy COLLINS

Thank goodness there wasn't a PETER PETTER  :D

jane

There is now - he's my brother! We descend from James Petter, born 27th December 1786 in Rogate.

Hello Jane.

Thank you for the information about JAMES ALBURY  and RHODA LUCKINS.  That is good news.

Had nearly forgotten about them .

Could I ask you please what ---"sp. botp (B) means after Rhoda's name?

Thanks.    April

sp botp (B)

;D sp. Spinster - botp Both of this parish - (B) married after Banns

botp - simply means that both were living in the parish where they married, not necessarily that both were born in that same parish.
