A wheelwright made wheels for carts, wagons, carriages etc.

Or for use in mills.
My ancestors were millwrights / wheelwrights / gear maintenance engineers for several generations, and used any one of these occupations on census entries.

That's really interesting Julie, because my ggg-grandfather was a miller and his son-in-law a wheelwright. I'd always assumed their occupations were unconnected, but perhaps not?
