Hi Christopher,

Can you please check the bassetts 1886 Directory for a Nicholas Carney Hairdresser.  In 1880 he was in listed as being at Short Strand info below. Would like to know if anyone else there too.
SHORT STRAND
Ballymacarrett Road to Albert Bridge Road
 4. Carney, Nicholas, hair dresser

Thank you Betty

Hi Betty,

The directories only give the head of the household. Nicholas does not appear in the 1912 Ulster Covenant
so the only chance of finding who else may have been in his household is to look at the 1901 Census.

Christopher.

Hi Christopher,

Thank you for looking but I think Nicholas Carney is nowhere to be found after 1880 when the details I gave were recorded.  I don't know where you get the Irish 1901 census anyway but somehow I don't think he would be on there..

This whole Carney family really have me going round in circles, sometime it Nicholas Carney, sometimes Nicholas John Carney, and also just John Carney.
So looks like I am still stuck, stuck, stuck.

Really do appreciate your help Christopher!!

Betty

I know they had 2 sons Hugh (my Gt GF), William dob 13/6/1870 daughter Rose 13/3/1868(i got this info via this website). Hugh married inGlasgow in 1885, so family may have moved.
