I've borrowed a reprint of George Henry Bassett's "Co. Down Guide and Directory 1886"  published by Books Ulster in 2002. Anyone with Co. Down ancestors in 1886 who would like a look up please post a message.

Hello Christopher,
Any reference to Elizabeth Kerr's father Hugh in Ballywalter? My grandmother Elizabeth was born Ballywalter 2 March 1895.
Best regards,
Gary

Your generous offer is most appreciated. I am looking for my g.g.grandfather William Lutton who lived in Newry Co.Down. He may have been a blacksmith or similar. All I know of him is that he died before 1845. Maybe there is an entry in the County Down Directory for the Lutton family in or around Newry.
Regards
Joan

Joan, you should place your Lutton on its own page if I dare suggest it. To start you with definite news please look up www.familysearch.org/ Then open search, then type in William  and then Lutton, then change all countries by scrolling down options to Ireland and you should be very pleased on a first enquiry, as you will then see the newry connections, and you should you will see someone has done your family tree, unless its yourself.  Christopher will lead you onwards in Ireland as he does ! good luck to you both, Jim

Hiya Jim,

Andrew Gracey was a farmer at Ballystockart near Comber.
Nothing in the Newtownards area

What a treat! :o

Christopher, I am interested in Robert Rodgers, who was a tailor, I believe, in Comber about 1886. And a William McConnell, or William (Willie) John McConnell who would probably have been a farmer in the area of Comber or Newtonards.

Appreciate your kind offer.

Hi Chris

Your kind offer has left me feeling particularly greedy. Would you please look up any or all of the following folk for me please and let me know what you find.

Morrisons (particularly interested in names Hugh, Samuel and Anthony) in Magherabeg, Dromore or in Dromore village itself. But any Morrisons in Dromore or surrounds would be welcome.

McClatchey (McClatchy) in Drumbroneth, Dromore.

Murphy (particularly Thomas) in Listullycurran, Dromore I think.

Lindsay (William) in Ballymacormick, Dromore.

Jones (particularly Francis or James) in Ballysallagh, Dromore or Dromore village itself.

Thanks very much.

Kath :)
