Has anyone had trouble connecting to Lurgan Ancestry?  I keep getting Page Unavailable.  Have they changed their web address?
Cully, Bannister, McConnell, Wallace (Co. Armagh)  Anderson, Ross (Co. Antrim), Gray, Truesdale (Co. Down)
McCormick (Killyleagh and finally Belfast)

Hiya Rosemary ..

It is possible the Lurgan Ancestry website may have closed due to lack of funding. I contacted the UHF and asked them if they could tell me anything but they were unable to assist. The young lady who spoke to me told me websites do come and go. I noticed another site Fermanagh Gold has closed but there are negotiations ongoing to reopen that site.

Best Wishes, Christopher

If they have closed because of lack of funding this is a disaster.  I can't tell you how useful this site has been to me.  I would willingly give them a donation, and I am sure so would a lot of other people.  This site was started by Martin McGoldrick, in memory of his father, I believe.  I sent an email to Martin via another site with which he seemed to be connected , but had no reply.  Come back Martin, all is forgiven!  Rosemary

Hiya Rosemary,

I googled Martin McGoldrick and found his other site. It is a genealogy research service.

Chris.

Maybe you would try (in your official capacity) sending him an email.  Rosemary

Hi everyone,
Lurgan Ancestry has come offline. I do not know whether it is  temporary or permanent. To my knowledge Martin McGoldrick dedicated the site to his son , Martin (junior) who was murdered during the "Drumcree stand-off". Since then Martin (senior) too has passed away while doing charity work abroad. He was a very sincere gentleman who will be sadly missed in all aspects of his work - I only ever had the pleasure of meeting him once.
Maybe some of his co-workers will maintain his site as it was very helpful to all who were researching their"tree" in the Portadown/Lurgan area.

I am devastated by this news and my heart goes out to the McGoldrick family.  I hope they knew how much we all appreciated their work.  Rosemary

Sad news, indeed. I will certainly miss the site, having used it for a few years now, as it helped me greatly (and so too has aljepeka - a public thanks to you too  ;D) with research on some of my hubby's line. Thankfully I printed off some of the relevant finds, but unfortunately I think there were still some I hadn't done yet.
