FRANSWAY -- AGAIN!!
« on: Wednesday 09 August 06 20:14 BST (UK) »
HELP NEEDED!!

I've been going back over the details I've uncovered and I have a bit of a black hole in my Fransway history.

In 1861 the whole family is living in Monkwearmouth, Durham.

John & Catherine are the parents.

Eleanor, Mary, William & Winifred are the children.

The problem is some of the children disapear off the 1871 census.

On the 1871 Census I can find John & Catherine living together in Windy Nook, Heworth, Durham but no children with them.

I have found William Fransway as a boarder in Southwick, Durham.

But I cannot find any trace of the women.

A search on marriages shows that Mary got married in Jan-Mar 1869 which explains her disapearance.

Winifred got married in Jul-Sep 1878 but doesn't appear anywhere in 1871.

Eleanor doesn't appear anywhere in 1871 but appears in 1881 married to Thomas Walsh and also with Catherine Fransway (born abt 1861) living with her in Bishopwearmouth, Durham.

I know this is a bit long-winded but can anyone point me in the right direction for finding out what happened to the Fransway women between 1861 and 1881?????   I have checked Scotland & England censii.

Hi v,

Do you have access to census?

Try RG10/4997 66 71  8)

You'll find Mary, Winifred, 'Ellen' and what looks like a younger sister Catherine age 9

I don't suppose you have a cunning ploy to find Ellen Fransway's marriage??

She is married to Thomas Walsh in 1881 and their oldest child was born in 1878.

I cannot find any record of Ellen Fransway getting married between 1871 and 1881 or after for that matter.

Sorry - other than the complete index, and I see you have searched it already, I am lost for ideas.  :(  :(
