Here is the baptism of Hugh Wade:

1681 June 19 HUGH s/o Eward & Ann Wade born 18 June.

I bought (on fiche) the Church Minshull memorial inscriptions a few days ago, and the only mention it made about a burial place was: "The Church contains the vault of the Wade family of Wades Green . . ."

This seems to suggest that the vault is inside the church but not marked by a tablet/tombstone.  A possible family connection with General Wade (apparently he was a famous military engineer during the Jacobite period) was also mentioned.

Hi,

I too have a link to the Wades through the Stubbs family.  I have got as far back as Mary Wade (1689-1761), daughter of Edward Wade, but no further at present.  Numerous sources state that the Wade vault is inside the church, at the base of the tower. Your experiences suggest that it is not well-marked.  I am hoping to get down there soon (and to Gawsworth too for the Stubbs), so I'll have a dig around for it.

I see that this topic is a few years old - have either of you managed to find out more about the Wades?

Jo.
