Thanks for your interest.

I think Mary JAMES parents were:

I have not found them on the 1841 census.

In 1851 at Pillowell, GLS;

Cleopatra     Wf  M  63                     West Dean

Henry           S     U  23  Haulier        West Dean
[No sign of Mary aged c16].

In 1861 at Yorkley, GLS;
Cleopatra JAMES  Hd  W  77               West Dean
Hannah                D     U  33               West Dean
Mary                     D     U  26               West Dean

Mary JAMES married Walter CHARLEY
30 Nov 1863 at St Paul, West Dean.

In 1871 at Shop House, Yorkley, GLS;
William JAMES   Hd  M  48  Farmer 4a       West Dean

Hi Derrick

Bear in mind this is "border country" and Mary might have been employed in Monmouthshire without necessarily having a long commute!  You would have to post separately on the Monmouthshire board if you think this is the case.

Good luck!
