Maria Hurling or Horling 1871
« on: Sunday 06 August 06 08:01 BST (UK) »
I am looking for a Maria Hurling or Horling (the census of 1861 is very difficult to read and maybe the name is Hubing) she is married but living with her parents James and Mary Ann Paine in Northgate Wakefield West Yorkshire she has her 2 children with her Louisa Payne Hurling aged 2 years and Sarah Hurling aged 1 year all born yorkshire (Wakefield I believe) please help if any can help me sort this out it would be appreciated. It maybe that she is now living with her husband as her parents James and Mary Ann Payne do not seem to be alive in 1871.

Hello,
see what you mean about the writing. From free births Sarah is Hesling and Louisa is registered as Louisa Payne.

1871: RG10; Piece: 4627; Folio: 65; Page: 12
has a Louisa Hesling aged 13 yrs with parents Maria and George (bricklayer) - other siblings but no Sarah.

RG10; Piece: 4623; Folio: 23; Page: 38
has a louisa aged 13 yrs- servant

1861:RG9; Piece: 3425; Folio: 63; Page: 19
has George 24 yrs bricklayer at home with mother although his condition seems to be married.

I suppose I should now have posted all details- but will leave the decision to you!
best wishes
heywood

1861 has 2 George Heslings born around 1836/37 but this one seems the more likely

1861:RG9; Piece: 3425; Folio: 63; Page: 19

Sarah Hesling  head married 56 yrs  b Wakefield
George Hy Hesling son ditto  24 yrs  bricklayer (working)  b Wakefield
John Horey boarder unm 24 yrs    blacksmith (ditto)  b Oulton

1871: RG10; Piece: 4627; Folio: 65; Page: 12

Westgate Common(?) Alverthorpe with Thorne
George H Hesling  34 yrs  bricklayer foreman
Maria  31 yrs
Louise  13 yrs  Mill hand worsted
Annie 9 yrs
Maria 4 yrs
Harry 6 yrs
Emiley 2 yrs

all born Wakefield

1881 - you can view that free - no Maria but George listed as 'married'. However there is a death on freeview of a Maria born 1840 died 1873 Wakefield.

I do hope that all this fits - good luck
