1871 Census - Emert Duffield
« on: Wednesday 02 August 06 17:29 BST (UK) »
Hi,

Please could anyone help me find Ernest Dutfield born about 1862 in Whitechapel and probably living in London in 1871. I would like to know the names of his parents and any brothers or sisters. I think he may have been mistranscribed as EMERT DUFFIELD on Ancestry's index for the 1871 census. He appears to have left home by 1881.

Regards,
Ceci

Hi Ceci,

1871
RG10/481 25 46
Bethnal Green, London
3 St James Road

Alfred Turner head, 53, Tobacconist, b. Herts Hemel Hempstead
Catherine, wife, 59, b. Mddx Hackney
Arthur Duffield, nephew, unm, 30, Coach builder, b. Whitechapel
Ernest Duffield, gdson, 9, scholar, b. do.
Emma Miller, serv, unm, 24, General servant domestic, b. Hants Kingsclere

The image is bad but I do think it says grandson for Ernest.

Thank you Tati,

This may well help me to sort out who he is. I found him on a family monument with some others of my known Dutfield family, but couldn't place him.

Many Thanks,
Ceci
