Looking for Tindall in Scarborough
« on: Wednesday 02 August 06 09:02 BST (UK) »
I'm looking for information on Caroline and John Tindall. I believe Caroline's name was Marshall. I have found them on 1881 census with 3 children, they were probably both born around 1850 and were possibly married around 1874/5 ish. They lived in Scarborough at the time of the 1881 census.

Quick reply! Confirms the family did belong Scarborough though they did move to Sunderland at some much later point. :)

That's great - I knew either Caroline or John's mother was Esther - and I have a photo of her. Thank you for that

Yes, that is a family name - so looking at previous message maybe William's initial was K for Kingston? I didn't know when or where William Kingston died.

Thank you very much

It's all good news - there is an elderley uncle who is sitting on a load of certificates and won't pass them all thouigh it isn't his family and he insisted the Tindalls were all from Sunderland!!Knew he was wrong - my husband's family but I did listen when his gran talked.

I can trace them as far back as 1841 at Scarborough:
(by the looks of it, William snr was a House Agent/Inspector of Weights, by the way).

1841
HO107/1266/8 15 23
Queen Street Scarborough

William Tindale, 45, Inspector
Ann, 45
Jane, 20
Rebecca, 20
William, 11
Ellen, 3

All born in county
